Cumulative Time

Dear All,

Does anyone know of  a way in Uniface to add time values together.  If
you add 10hrs to 16hrs using any of the time data types then the result
is 2 hrs rather than 26hrs.  Is it possible to do this sum (getting
26hrs) without manually converting the time field into a decimal value.
We use Uniface V7.203  and our database is OpenIngres 2.0.

Thank you,
Simon Hartley

[U-L] Load Oracle tables

Hi all,

My DBA created 27 tables in the Oracle database. Is there any way that I can
load these tables w/o typing any fields in Uniface. I tried the Load
Definition Utility and set my usys.asn file but it didn’t work.

I appreciate your help very much.

TIA

connection uniface61dv – oracle8

Hi all,

we try to connect an uniface-61dv-application (on Windows-NT4)  to an
oracle8-Server (on Reliant Unix  5.43) via Oracle8/Client-Software.
There is no problem to connect with sqlplus to the Oracle8-Server, the files
tnsnames.ora (Client) and listener.ora (Server) are allright.

When we start the application, we get the following error:

unable to load c:\usys61dv\bin\ora8035.dll; error 1114
unable to load 3gl function UDBORA

we assume, that the driver ora8035.dll looks for oracle-libraries and can’t
find them. Is there any way, to show uniface the path to these libraries ?
(Path setting: c:\orant\bin)

best regards

Joan

Re: [U-L] Cumulative Time

Simon,
UNIFACE fields of type TIME hold an ofset from midnight as a decimal number. They are not intended to hold durations and therefore won’t sum properly. If a time field is to be interpreted as a number of hours rather than as a location within a day, multiply the field value by 24 and assign to a numeric variable (use a floating point display format). To add two durations in TIME fields, use:

numeric_variable_for_total = (time_field1 + time_field2) * 24

Note: By definition, UNIFACE TIME fields cannot represent an offset beyond 23:59:59, so durations of 24 hours and above can’t be stored.

Thanks,
Paul Sims

What message did you get? Was it a failure loading UDBORA?
If so, then Uniface could not load the Oracle driver.

If you are accessing Oracle via PolyServer from a PC, then you
need to make sure that the ORA path points to the correct
PolyServer path. Otherwise, Uniface will try and use SQL*Net
directly on the PC, which requires a SQL*Net installation, the
Oracle location in the path, an SEK that includes Oracle on the
PC, and the Oracle driver .dll specified in the usys.ini file.

Failing that, here is the obvious stuff…

Have you followed all the steps listed in the Oracle driver guide?
I would recommend reading this, as it contains lots of useful
     information.

Look at section 2.2.3 "Load Definitions Utility" in OR3.PDF (can be
found on the Uniface Installation CD).

The most important step is adding the following to your assignment
     file in the [ENTITIES] section:

     USER_TABLES.ORA6=UNIFACE_TABLES.*

Re: [U-L] about QBF?

     Hi Kai,

If you have a single field  as a primary or technical key in outer
entity you can use a sub query in the read trigger of outer entity.

Like where key_field in ( select distinct  key_field from down_entity
     where query_condition).

Some third party has develped a generalised tool for it. I forgot the
name of them. If you are interested I can search my e-mail archive.

       Hi, all

as we all know,in UNIFACE,if we query by form,we can only fill in
the fields for outmost entity. if we want to use fields of inner
entities, one method is to use view to map an uniface entity. is
       there any other solutios?

Uniface Positions

I apologize for using this forum for this purpose, however I need some
assistance.  My name is Barbara Sutterfield.  I’m a recruiter (I know
it’s a bad word), for Quatrix, LLC.  I am searching for a strong
Uniface Business Analyst and two (2) Uniface developers for a 4 month+
project in St. Louis, MO.  Our client has purchased a "package"
developed using Uniface and they need it to interface with up to 10
existing systems.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks
and once again, I apologize for the "mis-use" of the forum, but I’m
kind of desperate.

[U-L] Web Application Server Experiences

I am interested in knowing some people’s opinions of the Web Application Server.

>From what I can see, the new architecture gives a whole lot of extra functionality to make Web Applications a real possibility.

As with any new technology, there does appear to be a fair amount to learn Specifically, I am interested in What sort of experiences have you had ?
How effective is the Dreamweaver integration ?
As a UNIFACE programmer I am usually well insulated from the technology specific
What is the balance between HTML/web experience and UNIFACE knowledge do I need, once I have got over
the initial learning curve of installing and configuring the environment ?

Any feedback would be appreciated.
