(no subject)

Hello everybody,

I am using Uniface 7.2.04  under Windows 95. One particular report (it is still a form component)
runs ok under Windows 95 at deployment ( on an Epson DFX 5000 printer), but under Windows 98, its different, both width and height are smaller and some columns of data do not appear.

Any idea as to the cause of this.

Thanks

[U-L] CascadeWindows

Has anybody tried to call the Windows function
CascadeWindows from within Uniface ?

I’ve modelled the call within the Signature Editor and
even tried a simplified call to a DLL which does the
work – all to no avail.

Nothing happens when I pass in the HWND of the Uniface
application (as retrieved with ugethwnd), although
everything works fine for all windows on the desktop,
ie. when the passed in HWND is NULL. Obviously, I only
want to cascade the Uniface application children
windows.

I want to use this functionality from a Uniface menu
option. I know that there is a button on the Uniface
provided toolbar, but I don’t want all the other
window controls as provided.

Any help would be appreciated.

[U-L] off-topic: Website updated

All,

Sorry about off-topic.

Virginia IT Services has updated its website, including the
Uniface undocumented features.

If you know of any undocumented feature not listed here please
mail me. We can update our site for use of all.

We are still working to improve things, so every now and then
minor changes will be done.

http://www.virginia-it-services.nl

Nice to know:

The website is entirely generated from a simple repository. An
Uniface programm is used to put the data in the repository. And
another Uniface programm is used to generate the entire site. So
we achieved simular look and feel over all webpages (yeh, you
can do something with style-sheets etc. to do the same). The
advantage we have is that data-entry for the site is just a
simple application.

Re: [U-L] Using IDF tables in components.

Hi Lain,

It is very simple:

In the installation-path of Uniface there is a map ‘TRX’. Here some
Uniface-exports are available.

You need to import UMETA.TRX  . (Possibly you have to copy this file to
another directory where IDF expects the *.TRX files to be)

After importing you get several application models which are used by the
IDF. (DICT = repository entities, UVCS  = Uniface version control, PRINTER =
Printer definitions)

Now you can make all the  reports you want.

Somewhere in the documentation there is an overview of all entities and
datamodel. (I forgot where it is)

TRX Files and AS400

I have some trx files containing ASCII data, created on an NT system.

When importing these into an AS400 runtime system, the gold semicolons in
the data get converted into something else so our application does not work.
It looks like the AS400 is converting the data from ASCII into EDCDIC.

Does anybody how I can stop this conversion???

Thanks,

[U-L] Printing problems

Hello everybody,

I am using Uniface 7.2.04 under Win95 for development. One particular report (it is still a form component) runs ok under Windows 95 at deployment ( on an Epson DFX 5000 printer), but under Windows 98, its different, both width and height are smaller and some columns of data are missing.

The paper size under printer properties (Windows) are the same on both machines.

The only particularity of this report is that some fields need to printed in smaller size (17cpi) while the
rest is 12 cpi.

Any idea as to the cause of this.

Thanks

POP and SMTP test

Has anyone downloaded the POPSMTP.ZIP file from $UUU?
I’ve downloaded from $UUU the POP send and receive, but it calls a UPOPMAIL
service that I couldn’t find in the .TRX file.
Is this a normal service provided by uniface, or do I have to get some more
file to import?
Can anyone tell me that?

Thanks.

WEB Developing

Hello everybody,
I’m initiating the definition of a project that should allow the customers
to connect to the company’s internet site, and access the information about
his bills, etc…
I know Uniface can do this, but I would like to know what are the basic
requisites (hardware and software), and where can I find documentation about
that.

Regards.

CommandButton

I created a new form with a commandbutton, which is composed of a picture
and a label.
The problem now is this, that the text of the label is the text from the
tooltip instead of the text from the label. I created also:
– a glyph U_OK
– a message (tooltip) U_OK, text = ok
– a message (label) L_OK. text = %ok
– the major properties of the button are:
  Initial Value: ^U_OK
  Datatype: Image
  Widget Type: CommandButton
  Characterisitics: Boilerplate

- the label text is: $text(L_OK)

The uniface version is 7.2.0.3

Does anybody know, what I forgot?
