Changing Cursor Appearance Over Fields

Has anybody had any success with or know how to change the cursor
appearance as it moves across fields on a runtime client display (not a
web front end).  I would like to make the cursors appear consistent
with the web front end.

TIA

Andy

Re: [U-L] wid4020c.dll error 1114 when using oracle odbc

Hello Andreas,
If you find this tool , could you give us back ?
I’ve wanted to track the DLL’s activations.
Thanks

Subject:  [U-L] wid4020c.dll error 1114 when using oracle odbc

Hi folks,

we’ve got a very suspect problem with the wid4020c.dll under UNIFACE
7.2.0.5 on NT4SP5-machines here:
When using ORACLE-ODBC driver v. 8.00.05.00 as a system-datasource we
get an ‘error 1114 – can’t load wid4020c.dll’ in the transcript.log. All
works fine when using the ‘Micorsoft ODBC driver for Oracle..’.
Unfortunately (?) we can’t use the Microsoft driver, due to a problem of
an integrated 3rd party SF in our application with this driver.
However, trying the hints of the "Common errors that involve DLLs
-nice2know article" didn’t help and reinstallation / versionchecking of
several ORCALE drivers and Mickeysoft DLL’s (e.g. ctl3d, mfc42 msv*.dll)
led to nothing than more confusion.
We once had a call for that error at the compuserve hotline. The result
was of a complete client reinstallation… .Now that the error occurs on
multiple machines, we don’t want to go this way again.. >:-(
Is there any leader around, taking us out of the DLL-jungle ? If not:
who knows a tool which offers the possibility of dll-call tracking.(If
we would get a list of involved dll’s we could compare them with those
dll’s on still working clients).

Life is extremly ugly without  wid4020c.dll, so i hope 2 hear from you
soon..

Regards,
Andreas

Dr. Watson

Hello unifacer’s

I have a problem within a set of forms where Dr. Watson occurs regurarly and
I know the steps how to force the uniface application the procduce Dr.
Watson.

The thing is, that when using the debugger, uniface never seams to crash at
the same statement. Have any of you had simalar behaviour an are there any
points to concentrate on trying to find a solution/workaround.

Any hints a welcome.

regards
Thomas

[U-L] AW: Dr. Watson

Hi Thomas,

of course we need a lot more of information about your environment to help
you.

There are a couple of constellations where UNIFACE crashes, for example, it
depends on your UNIFACE Version, your Operating System, your Database wether
some Proc code crashes or not (no, the Moon has definitly no effect on the
behaviour of UNIFACE ;-)

Can you specify the trigger UNIFACE is executing when it crashes?
What’s the content of this trigger?
Do you use any "dangerous" Proc Code ( complex, dynamic read-clauses,
discards on the read-trigger,Occurrence switching during Printing or in
OGF-Triggers?)
Do you use parameters or local variables? Ensure these are initialized
correctly.

It’s not unusual that a crash does not appear in the debugger. Insert trace
messages in you affected trigger and direct output to a log file.

Good luck,
Martin

Uniface in 3-tier architecture

Hello,

I have 3 simple? architecture questions:

- Is it smart to use Uniface for components on the presentation layer?
– Is it smart to use Uniface for components on the business and data layer ?
– Is it smart to use the Uniface application server?

the following items are very important for me: Costs,  Robust application,
Integrating non-uniface components, Availability, installed base&standard,
succes vendor.

Please tell me if there are better solutions then mentioned above.

Thanks in advance,
Hans

Re: [U-L] Use of IDF … /exe UCUST IDFCUST

Andre,

The behaviour you are seeing is correct.

This is an extremely little used feature of Uniface.

The Uniface IDF is itself a Uniface application, so all this command really
is saying is ‘run this form please’, much like /tst.  The only difference is
that you dont need to know the cryptic Uniface form name…

To add forms to the IDF, you can use the ‘additional’ pulldown menu (enable
it in preferences, and create a pulldown menu called ‘ADDITIONAL’, I think
it may have to be in the USYS library.

There is no ‘official’ way of actually modifying or extending pre-written
Uniface forms supplied by Compuware.

If you do hack into the IDF to replace a form, you often need to go through
a major overhaul each time you upgrade.
