Re: [U-L] Maximum number of operands in a retrieve profile ?

Christian,

I do not think that you are going about solving this problem the "right
way".

For a start, the retrieve profile for an exact match is: "Gold=key1" or
simplified "key1"

To retrieve either key1 or  key2 the profile is: "Gold=key1Gold|Gold=key2"
or simplified "key1Gold|key2"

The list separating character Gold; has no meaning in a profile, which is
the meaning of the error message Invalid opr in iflist.

The iflist is a special parameter Uniface passes the DBMS driver containing
the selection criteria.

Whilst inefficient, I suggest creating a repeat or while loop, to extract
each item from the list in turn, and perform a retrieve/x or retrieve/a.

[U-L] migration problems

Hi all,

We have recently migrated our CHUI application as follows:

Uniface 6.1.du to Uniface 7.2.06
HP-UX10.20 to HP-UX11.00
Informix 7.24 to Informix 7.31

When testing the screens we have come up with some problems:

All of our boolean fields that used to diplay Y/N values on the
screens now display X/null, although they do write correctly to the
database as Y/N. (We’re using the boolean packing code B3).

Some of our ‘getlistitems/occ’ statements just don’t work anymore
(corresponding ‘putlistitems/occ’ are OK). We use these to pass
retrieve profiles between components.

Has anyone come across any of these problems before? (How many sites
are running Uniface 7 apps in CHUI mode???)

Thanks,

Keir

Re: [U-L] Uniface 7.2.06 and Sybase 12 ???

Kuljeet/Eric,

I recommend taking the U2.10 to U3.x migration separately to the Uniface
7.2.04 to Uniface 7.2.06 migration.

Uniface 7.2.06 does still come with the U2.10 driver.  The Uniface drivers
work with dependent Open Client versions, not with the actual Sybase
database.  So you can use Uniface 7.2.06 with Open Client 11.1, and
whichever Sybase databases support Open Client 11.1.

Now I believe that Sybase do support Open Client 11.1 with Sybase 12, so
this lets you upgrade your database, and Uniface without upgrading the
driver.  Driver migrations in Sybase are traditionally complex, and can then
be handled with more leisure.

Polyserver problem

Hi,

I’ve a terminaison problem on a machine which has the following
configuration:
AIX 3 4 on escala (64bits)
Oracle 8 (64bits)
Uniface 7.2.06 with Polyserver, ASV, and UMD active

When I leave the IDF, I have this inactive transcript:
TCP: [4] Interrupted system call 4
TCP: [9] Bad file number 9
TCP: [9] Bad file number 9
8062 – [A] Request terminated (network failure (9) detected)
8062 – [A] Request terminated (network failure (0) detected)

I can’t find the message with id 8062 in the Uniface messages list.
I think the problem comes from the server file system, but I’m not sure.
It happens on all stations (95/98) and on a NT4 server which performs
backups via
the caracter mode IDF (the backups can’t operate the night because these
transcript
windows stop the processing.

Anyone has an idea ? Thanks.

Re: [U-L] Polyserver problem

Richard,

This message is typical when the psv process on the server quits
unexpectedly.  Why this is happening I can’t help you with.  Maybe it is
because you don’t have a 64 bit polyserver ?

To get rid of the transcript window, either use freeidf.exe (a program which
runs on WinNT and kills transcript windows), or specify
$transcript_logfile=c:\logfile.log in the [SETTINGS] section of the ASN file
(setting this means that the transcript window never comes up).

JTI problem with a BDC

Hi, (re, I’m very active today)

I’ve just installed the JTi on a Backup Domain Controler of our domain. In
Cluster Manager, when I create an application shortcut, I’ve User|Group not
available in the Users permissions.
Does the JTi understand the user replication or it has to be the PDC ?

Thanks,
